Basic Reads is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to families and reading. We understand reading as a basic condition for success and social mobility. And how can it be any other way? Children who enjoy books are poised to succeed in school, which gives them the confidence and ability to become exactly who they aspire to be. We think books are the cat's meow, and hope you join us in the effort to promote literacy in all children!

We have donated more than 900 books so far, and we continue facilitate activities to educate parents about the importance of reading to their children. See the programs and upcoming events pages for more information.

There are many ways to help promote early literacy. The most important, of course, is reading with children. Our events focus on educating parents about the importance of reading with their children while making sure they have the means to do so (including meeting other Basic Needs).
